What is DTG Printing? Direct-To-Garment vs. Screen-Printing
Direct to Garment (DTG) printing is a relatively new technology that basically replaces screen-printing in many cases. Based on the same technology as an inkjet printer, a DTG printer applies water-based garment ink directly to apparel. A heat cure sets the ink into the fabric, resulting in a permanent print.
Advantages of DTG Printing
· NO SETUP FEES! Screen-printers will charge you setup fees per color just to get started.
· FULL-COLOR PRINTING! Even if you pay to get many colors screened, you won’t come close to the photo quality, high resolution capacity of DTG.
· NO HEAVY INK FEEL! Screen-printing just places thick ink on top of the fibers, DTG embeds water-based ink directly into the fabric. On white of light colors, you won’t be able to feel the ink.
· NO CRACKING OR PEELING! Over time, screen-prints will crack or peel with age. DTG prints will stand the test of time because they are embedded in the fibers.
· NO MIN. QUANTITIES! Screen printers don’t like small orders because the setup costs and labor outweigh the profits. We have no setup costs or fees*, so order as many or as few as you need.
DTG Printing has paved the way for affordable custom apparel printing.
